How to draw Kyojuro Rengoku from Demon Slayer Step by Step Tutorial

2021 massive hit Demon Slayer : Mugen Train the movie gave us Rengoku Kyojuro, for which I am blessed and thankful. Because whenever you come across such a charismatic, strong and genuinely good character, you automatically know you have gained yet another favourite in a heartbeat. Let’s talk about ou hero, the flame Hashira Rengoku Kyojuro from Demon Slayer. This article will contain some major spoilers, so if you don’t want that, you can skip straight to the tutorial.

WHO IS KYOJURO RENGOKU :

The eldest of the current Rengoku generation and the Flame Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps Kyojuro stands out for his charismatic character traits and looks. Rengoku is, rather obviously, incredibly dedicated to both the Flame Hashira title and his role as a Demon Slayer. Whilst he can often come across as eccentric and strange, his enthusiasm to help people and defeat demons cannot be understated. He is the son of the former Flame Hashira for the Demon Slayer Corps, Shinjuro Rengoku, and has a younger brother, Senjuro Rengoku, who also trained alongside him.

WHY DID RENGOKU DECIDE TO BECOME A HASHIRA?

It is not only limited to this father and son duo, since the Flame Hashira always came from the Rengoku lineage before Kyojuro took over. His father, Shinjuro Rengoku, was also the Flame Hashira for quite some time before Kyojuro took over. Originally, the first head of the Rengoku family learned the Sun Breathing technique from Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who then adapted the technique into Flame Breathing, which would be passed down from generation to generation and, as the eldest son of the current Rengoku family, it is his duty to preserve their traditions.  Not to mention his brother, Senjuro, doesn't have the physical ability needed to properly use Flame Breathing. So Kyojuro basically has little to no choice but to dedicate himself to the way of the flaming swords, and become the next Flame Hashira. Kyojuro’s mother always taught him the values of being strong and that is to protect the weak. Thus he decided upon being a hashira and doing so.

KYOJURO’S POWERS AND TECHNIQUES :

Kyojuro has multiple forms of Flame Breathing art, and the most powerful is the ninth form, he can change according to his ability. He is an incredible swordsman and a very powerful boy at the age of 20. He is known for his high speed, intellect, reflexes, and opinions, but most significantly “an undaunted spirit and indomitable willpower.”

Rengoku’s first form is known as Unknowing Fire and the power of his first form is user uses his weapon from behind charges at high speed.

His Second Form which is Rising Scorching Sun is known for user to swing their blade upward before doing it downward.

The third Form which is Blazing Universe is known for user to swing their blade downward.

The fourth Form which is Blooming Flame Undulation is known for user uses his blades in a circular motion and defeats his enemies at once.

Fifth Form which Flame Tiger is known for user attacks through sword and at a high speed which makes tiger in flame.

Furthermore, the ninth Form which is ‘Rengoku’ is known for User dashes forward from a high stance with high power and speed, enough to carve the surrounding ground.

STEP – 1 : Drawing baselines

In this step of anime drawing, you’re going to have to draw one vertical line and three horizontal lines parallel to each other, on the circle that you have drawn in the previous step, which will help you place the facial features. Initially this is the first step of how to draw an animated face.

STEP – 3 : Drawing the lower part of the face

In the third step you are required to draw the lower part of the face of Rengoku which is basically the jaws and the chin, on the underside of the circular baseline.

STEP – 4 : Drawing Rengoku’s hair/ How to draw anime hair

Start by drawing the outline of Rengoku’s unique wild hair that is spikey at the top and the ends reach down to his chest.

STEP – 5 : Drawing Rengoku’s Eyes / How to draw anime eyes

This step requires you to draw Rengoku’s big beautiful sharp eyes on the inside of the first two horizontal lines along with his thick eyebrows and ear on the left side of the face.

STEP – 6 : Drawing Rengoku’s facial features

In this step, you’re going to have to draw Rengoku’s nose on the vertical line and his lips on the circle, right above the chin.

STEP – 7 : Drawing Rengoku’s upper body / How to draw an anime body

This step requires you to draw Rengoku’s upper body, covered by his Hashira uniform along with his signature cloak.

STEP – 8 : Drawing Rengoku’s hair II

Now you have to draw the back layers of Rengoku’s long hair.

STEP – 9 : Drawing Rengoku’s sword

In this step, you’re going to have to draw the hilt of Rengoku’s Nichirin Katana on his waist.

STEP – 10 : Darkening the outlines

In this step, you’re going to have to define the outlines further.

STEP – 11 : Finalising Rengoku fanart

In this step you can erase all the excessive guidelines and rough lines, leaving out only the final outlines.

STEP – 12 : Colouring the drawing

In this step all you have to do is to colour and shade your final drawing as shown in the picture. Colour the hair and eyes with the shades of flames and the uniform black and white.
